Jane Paterson was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to Scottish parents. She traveled extensively with her family which exposed her to many different cultures, protocols and manners. In 1999, Jane relocated to the USA with her husband and children.

Jane completed her graduate education at the University of Cape Town, earning a BSc in English and Psychology. She also completed her post-graduate education at UCT, qualifying as a Teacher.

After her studies Jane joined The Cape Argus, the largest Cape Town daily newspaper, where she worked her way up to the position of Promotions Manager. As part of her job, she organized and hosted a variety of media events for corporations, including advising management and clients on how to act and respond in social and business situations.

While at The Cape Argus, Jane was invited to be Vice Chair of the premier women’s networking group in Cape Town, The Lady Cavendish Luncheon Club. In this role, she hosted many formal functions for influential business people and leading women in society.

After nine years with The Cape Argus newspaper, Jane started her own media relations company. Major clients were exclusive boutique hotels as well as top class restaurants. As Chief Executive she advised clients on how to interact with the various media and coached clients in correct business protocol. In addition, she hosted an ongoing schedule of media meet-n-great lunches, dinners and events.
